Kuwait - 1982 Or 2006?
Update (2nd September): I have received information pertaining to the following pictures. They are by Mr. Dennis Sylvester Hurd. All of Mr. Hurd's photographs can be found at this LINK.
I received these stills concerning Kuwait, circa 1982, via email today.
The sad reality is Kuwait has not changed much in almost 25 years has it?

I love Kuwait. I don't want it to change. I want it stuck in a timewarp. If it changes, we will get taxes, urban crime, inflation and more traffic.
We must all work to be the Amish of the Gulf. I am not being sarcastic, I am serious.

Veto, Everything you are afraid of is already happening: crime is up (embezzlement, rapes, murders etc), traffic is at an all time high, services and utilities are decrepit, etc.
We are gaining the ills of time but not the development or advantages that are supposed to stem from them.
And taxes are on the way :(

That is why we must work towards the past and not for the future, they where better more basic times.

Of course Kuwait has changed - and the change is staggering in the last 5-10 years.
The skyline as viewed from the coast is everchanging.
Crime is up: all kinds.
It has become one crowded mess.
There is alot of physical change going on albeit haphazard - but there is no constructive planning. It all seems to be on impulse.

Alot of things during that period was great. But, Kuwait did change, just drive around the gulf road and visit salmiya and hawalli.
A part of me agrees with Don Veto, but i would like us to jump ahead of other countries and provide good services for the people.
P.S. I like that pizza hut picture where it says : thick and chewy...!!!! lol

"in 1982, I was 1 year old"
In 1982 I was listening to "Shalamar," watching "Shogun" on KTV2 and hanging out at "Pizza Italia" and the old "Movenpick."
Damn, you make me feel ancient.
