'300' Invades Kuwait

Update: I have been informed by several friends who have seen the film in Kuwait that the violence is practically intact and that censorship was kept to a minimum, thankfully.

I was looking forward to seeing Zack Snyder's hit '300' but I doubt I'll watch it in Kuwait (Dubai, yes, but not Kuwait). The film is rated R by the MPAA:

MPAA RATING
R, for graphic battle sequences throughout, some sexuality and nudity.

The R-rated '300' is rated '15' in Kuwait. The relatively harmless NORBIT, on the other hand, is PG-13 in the U.S. and rated '18' in Kuwait.

'300' will probably be slaughtered by Ministry of Information censors (no pun intended).

Families will probably bring in their children to the theatres.

I think I'll pass and wait for the DVD.

i stopped going to Kuwait Cinema since lord of the ring III return of the king

long live the Internet / DVD

if they ( MOI ) think they are that good to know how to cut and edit a movie and make it watchable why don't they do their own movies and see who watch it ?

there is a dvd quality version available online if ur interested.
the only scene that i think would be cut out of the movie is at the begining of the movie, that really is not that important and doesnt really help out with understanding the movie, thats if they cut out the sexual scenes, if they cut out the fight scenes due to the extreme violence, then its not worth going to in kuwait.

that our biggest problem here in kuwait yazeed
they bring a R rated movie
and chop it down to PG

i heard theyre playing it in an IMAX theatre in some countries!

thats one film i dont wanna watch anywhere other than in an IMAX :P

I think Dubai has it on their IMAX theater (Grand Cinemas, Ibn Batuta Mall).

Man, I love Dubai.

I haven't been to a movie in Kuwait since i saw 'Disclosure' and couldn't figure out why everyone was so mad at Demi Moore's character because the MoI had censored out the scene that the whole movie is centered around.

I heard they even edited two cartoons kissing in the movie 'Antz'.

What cracks me up is that they still have people going through every magazine with a black marker coloring in women's cleavage when i can turn on channel E on showtime and see women naked...........Talk about having your head in the sand.

Check out gignews.com great place to download the latest.

There are like 3 nudity scenes but they aren't THAT important. And I doubt they will cut the battle scenes (the center of the movie) since they aren't that gore in mu opinion.

I don't go to Kuwait Cinema because of the audience, they talk too much and laugh at the most stupid things...I hate that.

I avoid Marina and Fanaar cause some real idiots go there to watch films.

Mohallab 3 I like - preferably sometime in the afternoon - the demographic is Western-Arab, some Kuwaiti families, very few troublemakers if any, only problem is they sometimes bring in noisy children.

But you are right, overall Kuwait is not a good place to catch a flick, too many obnoxious people.

I'll go occasionally to watch a PG rated flick that I know won't be edited like SPIDERMAN, POSEIDON or HARRY POTTER, but overall I wouldnt want to catch an R-rated film in Kuwait like THE DEPARTED (which got butchered).

In Dubai everyone is well-behaved and quiet and they have a rating system - meaning kids dont get to see flicks like GHOST RIDER or HANNIBAL and cause a ruckus by getting frightened.

do you know the ajial mall in fahaheel?

i watched nacho libre there. i normally dont go to the mives here for all the reasons listed already, but that one was pretty quiet and 75% empty which was great.

only bad thing was that half the tiny audience didnt get some jokes so embarassingly i burst out laughing alone :P

I have never been to Ajial, but I heard its a low key theatre as well.

As for NACHO LIBRE, it is genius!

I went to watch this movie the day it was released in Muhallab 3 .

The movie was amazing , especially for us guys that love those hack and slash action scenes. It was full of them! Nothing like that crap movie Alexander that promised a warrior movie and ended up being a drama about a bunch of gays riding elephants( horrible let down).

The good news is none of fighting was censored , a few people found it too bloody and left the theatre but by and large most people stayed until the end. The shabaab even gave it a round of applause at the end.

So if you dont care about the nude scenes and want a great night out check out the 300 ... you wont regret it.
